What tracing is

Each cell shows a light model character. The learner traces over it to learn stroke order and placement before writing from memory.

Per-cell tracing is slower and clearer for new characters. Full-row tracing helps continuous writing once the shape is familiar.

About 35% opacity is a good start. Too dark and the child only paints over the model; too light and they cannot see it. Red or gray both work.

Move to model + blank, then empty grids for dictation. Do not stay on tracing for months.
